How do I increase the voice quality on my mumble server?
The "bandwidth" setting on all of our mumble servers is 128kbits/s which is the maximum value that is able to be set on any Mumble server. However, you have to edit the bandwidth your client sends to get full use of this.
Inside your mumble desktop client:
- Open the Settings Dialog
- Go to Sound Input
- Under "Compression" change the "Quality" slider to where you would like it.
Keep in mind that while the server is set to 128k bandwidth, that means that you can transmit a maximum of 128kbits/s to the server. The CELT codec maxes out at 96kbits/s, with some overhead on top of that.
Enjoy even clearer sound!
